Tennessee Riverplace Wedding

Chattanooga, TN

It’s always great to visit a city you once lived in. Chattanooga, TN, was no new territory for me. I have lived in Chattanooga, TN, for 3 years and am very similar to the area.

However, I had no idea Tennessee Riverplace Wedding Venue was here. As a matter of fact, back then, I wasn’t even a wedding photographer, so why, how would I’ve known anyways.

I really don’t know how to explain the feeling, but I assume you know what I mean anyways.

Tennessee Riverplace is located just on the banks of the Tennesse River.  With the mountain as a backdrop and the Tennessee River, we sure had plenty of locations for some amazing pictures.

The wedding venue itself just doesn’t quite fit into Chattanooga City.  It looks so different when you are on-site, and makes you wonder if you are even in the USA anymore.

Getting Ready at The Tennessee Riverplace Wedding Venue

Chattanooga, TN

I absolutely love it when there are two photographers at weddings. I have complete focus and creative control for one side of the party and can take my time with them, capturing some amazing shots.

Krista Ballington, who I have worked for the past 3 years, was on the bride, and I had Rashid photograph for the getting ready part.

Since we work together, we know how to make everything go smoothly.  Upon taking the boys out, I made sure Krista was not shooting the girls outside or make sure she didn’t bring them out.

Since Rashid and his groomsmen already came ready, there really wasn’t any getting ready part.  I took them out to the back to start getting some photos.  If I get this done, they would have more time for the video games since they bought them at the venue.

Ceremony at the Tennessee Riverplace Wedding Venue

Chattanooga, TN

As Rashid went back inside the groom’s getting ready room, Marcy came out from the upstairs room (the girls getting ready).  I quickly came up with a shot since they didn’t want to see each other until the wedding ceremony.

Sometimes during weddings, you are a vendor that just doesn’t know how to shoot weddings.  Having done both photography and videography for weddings, I know how to capture weddings from both aspects.

The videographer just didn’t know how to shoot a wedding and totally messed up most of the shots for the wedding ceremony.  But, we managed to work around it and got some amazing shots in the end.

It’s really frustrating when you have a vendor that doesn’t know how to operate as a team, thus the reason why you should hire both photo and video from the same company.

Rainbow at the Tennesee Riverplace

Chattanooga, TN

So we had a little bit of rain at Marcy and Rashid’s wedding.  We got done with the bridal portraits, and when we started to work on the portraits for Marcy and Rashid, the rainbow popped out.

I have shot over 100+ weddings, and even some with rain, and never had a rainbow pop out.  Marcy noticed and pointed a the rainbow, so I got the shot, and below is my edit of it 🙂

Amazing Photos at Tennessee Riverplace

Chattanooga, TN

We had so many amazing shots for Marcy and Rashid’s wedding that I was blown away that this happened.  Normally you get one or two shots, but “WoW,” Which one do I select as the best shot of the day or the feature shot for this blog post.

We had the rainbow pop, which would be a great print on the wall.

We had the sunset shot of the mountain, which would also be a great print on the way.

We had the bride and groom on both floors, which also is another amazing shot.

But for this wedding, I selected the bed crash one.  It’s not every day where the bride and groom would crash at the venue they are getting married.  Both Marcy and Rashid were also a sport of getting this shot.

In reality, this is exactly how the bride and groom feel after the wedding day, and it’s also how I feel when I get home from a wedding.  So this shot had to be the most epic one.

Sawyer Family Farmstead Wedding

Sawyer Family Farmstead - McKenzie + Derek

I didn’t realize that Sawyer Family Farmstead, located in Glenville, NC, was a Christmas tree farm, until I got to the farm driving around.  Sawyer Family Farmstead is filled with Christmas trees around the wedding venue.  You actually need a golf cart to get your self around the venue.

We had to use the golf cart during the bride and groom portrait session, as it was right during sunset and we wanted to get a few shots with the nearby lake, as well as the mountains valley in the background of their portrait session.

My only regret was that the annoying sun kept peeking out all day, giving the photos a bit of either sunny vibe or cloudy vibe.

beach wedding, elopement wedding photographer

Kill Devil Hills Beach Wedding - Ruby + Collins

What a day, 10-hour drive from my home, and then 10 hours driving back home in soaking wet shoes and clothes.  Ruby and Colins were an amazing couple, that we just went crazy with the photos. No photo expectation and you got some amazing photos captured.

Ruby and Colins had their wedding on the beach of Kill Devil Hills, NC.  They rented a small house on the beach to have their beach wedding. You might as well consider this an elopement or destination wedding because we’ll that’s exactly what it was.

Getting ready for the end of the wedding reception was all in the rental home on the beach.  No traveling around the cities, so I had plenty of time to capture some amazing shots.
